Steeles construction zone: York Region's explosive growth means Steeles Avenue is a permanent construction corridor — road widening, condo developments, commercial builds, and utility work generate fine concrete dust that drifts into Bayview Woods-Steeles from the north. This alkaline dust (pH 12-13 from Portland cement) etches glass over time if not cleaned. Homes on streets north of Finch, particularly those within 500m of Steeles, should schedule spring cleaning no later than mid-April to remove winter construction dust before warm weather bakes it on permanently.
German Mills Creek corridor: The ravine system that runs through the neighbourhood's eastern section creates a green tunnel — beautiful for walking, challenging for home maintenance.
